DANS IN ONTWIKKELING 19
19. 1 “Wrapping / Identity”
goes beyond a solo performance—it’s a collaborative creation by three artists from different disciplines. The starting point is an unusual paper coat, designed and crafted by Aleksandra Pershay. More than just a theater costume, this coat is an art object that resonates deeply with the principles of fashion deconstructivism. It challenges the limits of materiality, with its interaction with the performer at the heart of the piece. As it wraps and unwraps, both the paper entity and the androgynous character, embodied by Charlotte Puebla, forge an intimate bond. Accompanied by the original sound composition of Otto Rissanen, this lonely duet provokes a reflection on existence, absurd and surreal, in all its shifting forms.

19.2 “My Orpheus”
by choreographer Vladyslav Detiuchenko draws inspiration from the grandiose personality of Jean Cocteau, the influential French film director, artist, and writer of the early 20th century. The performance seeks to explore a question that preoccupied Cocteau throughout his life: What is a poet?
Can humanity itself be seen as a poet? Humanity possesses immense power to create, transform, and destroy, much like a deity. The audience is invited to engage with an abstract narrative that reflects these questions through the language of body and gesture. The performance portrays the poet’s quest for creation and understanding, a continual dialogue with oneself, straddling the line between reality and a world of fantasy and illusion.
